Everything Costs More These Days. Everything Except PureTalk

Everything Costs More These Days. Everything Except PureTalk

Reading time: 8 minutes

Every time we turn around these days, we're hit with price increases. Food prices, up. Oil prices, up. Energy prices, up. According to the consumer price index, from April 2022 to April 2023, consumer prices increased 5.5 percent. Food rose 7.7 percent and shelter costs, things like rent, staying in a hotel, increased 8.1 percent. Ouch.

When you're with PureTalk, our prices will never increase.

Did your paycheck keep pace?

At PureTalk we're willing to bet it didn't. Hard-working, America-loving consumers always pay the price when prices rise. We're the ones who get squeezed. With the inflation rate jumping up 6.6 percent since January of 2022, we're dealing with higher credit card interest rates, higher auto loan rates and higher mortgage rates. In some cases, it also means being denied when you apply for new credit. The pain our small businesses must be feeling is almost immeasurable.

The powers at the Federal Reserve Bank tell us that, when interest rates increase, we'll cut back on our spending and therefore demand will increase, and prices will fall. Maybe someone should tell that to whomever is responsible for food and energy prices, particularly egg prices. They're up 173 percent since 2021.

At PureTalk, instituting higher prices is not how we roll.

Sadly, there's no end in sight

A new survey from Bankrate finds that the nation’s top economists expect interest rates to stay high for a while longer. "The majority (or 94 percent) of economists say the Fed could begin cutting interest rates in 2024, while a smaller share (or 6 percent) expect the Fed to cut rates in 2025 or later."

And rising prices are not just impacting the basics

We've seen rising prices everywhere -- including entertainment and travel.

Your favorite streaming service? It's only gotten pricier. Just recently, Amazon announced that Amazon Prime would start airing commercials during its programming. But, for an extra $2.99 a month, you can skip 'em. Gee thanks. Those who have Prime already fork over $14.99 a month for that privilege. Amazon needs another $2.99?

According to SmartAsset, airfare prices increased by 16% on average between 2022 and 2023. So now you get to pay a bigger fee for seats that are getting smaller and maybe, just maybe, get a package of peanuts for your trouble.

But don't worry. With PureTalk, you can connect with family and friends, listen to your favorite podcasts, search for airfare prices that won't break the bank (we're rooting for you!), and stream your favorite shows at the same family-friendly prices we've always had.

Higher costs are wreaking havoc on household budgets

How are you supposed to plan a household budget when your utility bills just keep going up? According to SaveOnEnergy, from August 2021 to August 2022, utility bills increased 16% in this country and the average electricity bill went from $0.147 kWh in January 2022 to $0.168 per kWh in January 2023.

Are we supposed to go without heat and electricity? We don't know. But we do know that when you switch to PureTalk, your wireless service will be the one line in your budget you can count on to remain the same.

Have more to spend on the important stuff. Switch to PureTalk

As we’ve said, between January ‘22 and January ‘23, grocery prices jumped 11.3%.

Chicken, up 10%. Milk, up 50%. And eggs, eggs!, up 173%. Everything costs more these days. Everything that is, except PureTalk.
